Submissions open for Children’s Book of the Month for April to June
09/01/2020
The BA Children’s Bookselling Group is now welcoming entries for the
Children’s Book of the Month
for April to June.
Chosen by a panel of independent booksellers from a range of new children’s titles submitted by publishers, the Children’s Book of the Month gives one new children’s book the opportunity of focussed promotion in independent bookshops across the country each month.
Emma Bradshaw, Head of Campaigns at the Booksellers Association, said:
“We are very excited to welcome entries for the Children’s Book of the Month for April-June. We know how much both booksellers and customers enjoy the books selected as Children’s Book of the Month, and we are sure that the coming entries will be just as popular.”
Submissions are open to books for children aged up to 11 years old across picture books, fiction, non-fiction and poetry, with the genre varying from month to month. The submitted titles must be new: first format publication of any submitted titles should fall between 1 April and 30 June inclusive.
Publishers are invited to submit titles on a quarterly basis, with a maximum of six titles per quarter. Submissions must be published within the quarter – or ideally the month – of promotion, and sequels will not be considered.
There is no submission fee, though publishers are asked to pay a modest participation fee of £600, should one of their titles be selected. In return, the Booksellers Association runs a full social media campaign, creates social media assets and POS kits for each Indie Book of the Month title.
The
Children’s Book of the Mont
h for January is
The Bear Who Did
by Louise Greig and Laura Hughes.
