Children’s Book of the Season for Winter announced
19/11/2018
The BA Children’s Bookselling Group has announced
The Storm Keeper’s Island
by Catherine Doyle as its Independent
Booksellers Children’s Book of the Season
for Winter.
The debut middle grade novel from Catherine Doyle, author of the YA Blood for Blood trilogy,
The Storm Keeper’s Island
was also selected as Middle Grade winner at the 2018
Books are My Bag Reader’s Awards
.
An exciting tale of adventure and magic,
The Storm Keeper’s Island
is set on Arranmore Island in Doyle’s native Ireland. It is available to buy now, published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books.
Catherine Doyle said
“I am so delighted that The Storm Keeper's Island has been selected as the Independent Booksellers' Children's Book of the Season for Winter. If I could condense this magical year into a Storm Keeper’s candle, it would definitely invoke the memory of all of the wonderful and welcoming independent bookshops I have visited this year. I look forward to visiting even more as Fionn’s adventures continue in 2019.”
For the Winter season, independent bookshops around the UK and Ireland will be promoting
The Storm Keeper’s Island
from 19 November until the end of the year. The BA will be supporting the promotion of the CBOTS through social media and promotional materials, including posters, bookmarks and other POS material. Booksellers will also be supporting the Book of the Season on social media.
Emma Bradshaw, Head of Campaigns at the BA, commented:
“We are very pleased to announce The Storm Keeper’s Island as our winter Children’s Book of the Season. As demonstrated by its win at the Books are my Bag Readers Awards, this exciting and popular title resonates with both children and booksellers.”
