Bookshops Urged to Join Big BAMB Bookshop Party

25/07/2013
BOOKS ARE MY BAG Bookshop Launch – Saturday, September 14th

Join the Big Bookshop Party

It’s not long till the Bookshop Launch Day of 14th September, and we need YOUR help to make the campaign launch as lively and as striking as possible!

Booksellers who ordered BAMB cotton bags will receive the bags in early September.  Also in early September, all registered bookshops will receive a FREE full Point of Sale Kit – this has been designed to create a party/carnival atmosphere in the shop, and we are urging all BAMB bookshops to use the kit to bedeck the bookshops, and make a visible statement to customers that the bookshop is taking part in this unprecedented campaign.

M&C Saatchi is planning the consumer PR for the campaign, (and we will let you know about that just as soon as it’s confirmed) and there will be  national media coverage visible to all on the weekend of 14th September.

Booksellers can capitalise on this media coverage, and create their own local BAMB splash by using the POS kit, and by starting to plan NOW for a day of celebration on 14th September.

We will shortly be sending to BAMB bookshops a Bags of Ideas kit, with suggestions for the sorts of events and celebrations bookshops could think about  putting on.  In the meantime, booksellers can start planning by:

  1. Contacting local media now to alert them to the campaign
  2. Approaching local authors now or approach publishers to organize an author event
  3. Thinking about other ways to join the Big Bookshop Party on 14th September.

In the meantime, check the website www.booksaremybag.com  for updates and details or visit the BA site too – www.booksellers.org.uk   We will be putting up more materials in the coming weeks and we will be in regular touch with booksellers by email.

If you have NOT registered, but would like to, visit www.booksaremybag.com and complete the registration form - or email alison.pinder@booksellers.org.uk
