Conferences

The BA exists to provide booksellers across the UK and Ireland with conferences and events to enable booksellers to gather together to exchange ideas and establish networks; to enhance their professionalism and to share (and to solve) common concerns. The infrastructure of the BA does this in several ways:-

We host an Annual Conference, considered to be one of the most important book trade gatherings of the year, which attracts around 450 booksellers, publishers and other trade suppliers. A range of high level speakers address the most pressing issues of the day, and a generous array of social events is always on offer.

The 2008 Conference will take place in Brighton 12th-13th May, with a Small Business Forum commencing on Sunday 11th May.

For further information please contact Naomi Gane or visit www.booksellers.org.uk/conference

We also run a number of special interest group seminars and conferences, including the ever popular Academic, Professional and Specialist Booksellers Group (APSBG) Conference.

The Christian Booksellers Convention is the annual conference and trade exhibition for the Christian trade, open to booksellers, book agents, publishers and anyone interested in Christian book, gift and music retail and supply distribution, in the UK and from overseas. There are training seminars on the first day hosted and organised by BA-CBG. The CBC trade awards are presented at the opening Banquet.

The Children's Bookselling Group holds an annual seminar in conjunction with the Publishers Association, usually in the Spring. For further information regarding either of these events, please contact John Parke.
