Welcome to the BA Group
The Booksellers Association represents and promotes the retail bookselling industry in the UK and Ireland and encourages best practise and excellence in bookselling. Our membership ranges from specialist bookselling chains like Waterstones and Blackwells, to supermarkets, academic booksellers, wholesalers, school and library suppliers, Christian and children's specialist booksellers, mixed multiples like WH Smith - and over 1100 independent bookshops.
The BA provides a wide range of products and services designed for members, ranging from National Book Tokens and our payments clearing system Batch.co.uk, to money saving affinity schemes, advice and information on legislation, a free Business Support Helpline, marketing initiatives for the industry, such as World Book Day, and also for specific sectors, like Independent Booksellers Week.
We provide an enormous amount of information on trade matters and on retail and consumer matters, and much of the information is on this site, with key trade directories (bookshops, publishers, retail suppliers) also available to members.
We run events for booksellers, and for the wider trade and we have regular bulletins and newsletters for members.
We also keep a close eye on developments in technology, and have a raft of advice and information on ebooks and all the technologies that underpin the 21st century book trade.
The BA Group includes the Booksellers Association, National Book Tokens and batch.co.uk. The BA also co-owns World Book Day, Book Industry Communication and green4books and is proud sponsor of the London Book Fair.
